Introduction

Welcome to Solaris, a three-day cathedral of light and sound built on a flooded airfield outside the city. Forty thousand people have come to witness DJ Nova's final set—the farewell of a generation's soundtrack, streamed to another two million at home. The main stage is a hundred metres of steel and LED, the bass already testing the fillings in your teeth. Nova is supposed to walk on at midnight. At nine, his dressing room is empty, his phone is off, and the first fight breaks out at the barricade. You are a security consultant hired to find him before the crowd decides to find him first. Your passes get you through neon-drenched VIP tents, past dealers and influencers and a promoter who sweats every time the subject turns to the setlist, and out into the muddy campgrounds where forty thousand people are already building a mythology around his disappearance. Everyone has a theory. Nobody has seen him since soundcheck. The truth is worse than a no-show. Nova's new track carries a subliminal frequency—a subsonic hook tuned to the exact resonance of human panic—engineered to trigger a mass psychological collapse across the entire crowd. A digital ascension for forty thousand captive listeners, broadcast live. The producers are in on it. The security team is in on it. The countdown on the main screen is not a set time. It is a detonation. To save the festival you do not need to find Nova. You need to reach the main stage, hijack a sound system guarded by people who no longer work for you, and counter-broadcast a signal of your own before the bass drops. Somewhere in the dark behind the stage, Nova is waiting to see whether anyone figured it out in time—and whether you are willing to burn the headline set to stop it.
